Game Day/Kings score four power-play goals in 7-3 rout of Texas !!

Written by  Joe Sports

‘I believe’, wow what a game, the Kings are alive. Sorry I'm late with my report, I stayed out a little late last night after the game at TGI Friday's.

One game at a time, the Mudbugs are in town tonight. Get to the game early tonight as all-time scoring leader Don Parsons' number 13 jersey will be retired during a pre-game ceremony.

The Kings spanked and I mean spanked Texas Friday night 7-3 at the DCC.

Matt Pierce returned to the DeSoto Civic Center for the first time since a trade that sent him to Texas last month. Pierce scored the Brahmas's first goal, deflecting the puck past McNulty. The Kings responded with a goal two minutes later on the powerplay, Andrew Lackner blasted one from the point which beat Palmer.

Then Texas scored on a goal from Lee Jubinville.Texas took a 3-1 lead when Kinnunen beat Kings goaltender McNulty. The Kings did not go away though as Matt Summers scored a pretty goal on the powerplay. Then the Kings got a penalty shot, Ryan Held scored it was 3-3 after one.

I haven't been able to say this all season long, two for two in the first period on the powerplay and it was three for three early in the second period as Kevin Truelson fired a rocket past Jaeger. It was 4-3 after forty.

Then it happened in the third period,  the strangest goal I've ever seen. It was a delayed penalty on the Kings and Jaeger left the net for the extra attacker, the Brahmas sent an errant pass into their own net. Stoddard was credited with the goal. Then Summer's scored his second of the night, it was now 6-3 Kings.

Then, you guessed it folks another powerplay goal, as Dane Marshall scored for the RiverKings. The Kings were 4 for 4 on the powerplay.7-3 Kings was the final.

The Kings outshot the Brahmas 36-31. Netminder Kyle McNulty won his third straight.

Why did we win?

Powerplay and some key hits last night, which seemed to motivate the players.

Remember tonight ,the number 13 jersey of all-time scoring leader Don Parsons will be retired in a pre-game ceremony. Parsons will be on hand to chat with fans and sign autographs during the game and afterward at TGI Friday's in Southaven, the official post-game party headquarters for the RiverKings.

Game Day

Ok, lets not forget the very important hockey game, that goes tonight at the DCC. The Kings battle the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs tonight. The Pre-game is at 6:50pm The puck drops at 7:05 pm at the DCC in Southhaven MS.and can be heard on Sports 56, WHBQ-AM and it will be available on CHL-TV.

How big is this game ? Huge and I mean huge. We have only four games left in the season and we still have not clinched a playoff spot. We want fourth not fifth place. Five points separate the third place Mudbugs and the fourth place RiverKings. Could we get third, yes maybe, but I think it would be a total collapse by the Mudbugs and I don't see that happening.

The Mudbugs have a record of 34-20- 4 for 72 points.(they also have two games in hand) The Kings have a record of 30- 23- 7 for 67 points.

THE PREDICTION

We play the Bugs tonight and on Tuesday. Both are VERY IMPORTANT GAMES TO US. We have not played well vs the Bugs this season. The Mudbugs have a 6-2-0 record against the RiverKings.

The Mudbugs are 4-1-0 at the DCC this season. We have to change that tonight. Play like we have in the last three and we'll be fine.

Poweplay has to be right on again tonight. The Bugs are fast, we have to bottle them up before they get started. Our goaltending has to be sharp tonight. Last night I thought we let in two soft goals.

They have great goaltending, have someone in front of the net. I'ts a playoff game for the Kings. We are in the zone now. Kings will win.
